Hall-Effect Sensor
The moderns cars now use computer relay controlled distributor modules and older cars in order to trigger combustion in the cylinder at the proper time use a mechanical distributor.
The Hall Effect Sensor is a magnetic field sensor that is capable of deterring of both static and dynamic field.
The Hall Effect Sensor in use in distributer . The sensor is placed on one side of the path a distributer vane and magnetic on the other. When the vane is not in place a normal magnetic field pass through the sensor . When the vane pass between the two elements the magnetic field short circuited, and the sensor send the signal.

Start at the point where the voltage output changes, then turn the distributor clockwise until the voltage changes again , note the degrees turned and the voltage obtained. Then repeat untel a full revolution is completed.

I have wire up the distributor and i connected an oscilloscope then Spain the distributor unfortunatully the distributor did not works perfect the next picture of waveform oscilloscope  shown.
Lets see the other Hall Effect waveform which i have download from web.
That is waveform trigger device is square pk digital on/off switch with produce square wave output it is recognized and pressed by the ignition control module. The trigger has a repeating metal disc with opening. This pass between the electromagnet and the semiconductor. The effect of magnetic field that is able to pass through one of the window will stop flow of voltage. When the windows is closed the flow is reinstated. This action will produced a digital square wave that is understood by  the electronic control unit (ECU)
These more pictures which shown the voltage and waveform . I had set the oscilloscope 5v per division and 10  ms time per division, show peak voltage 5v, and at 10 ms.
