10.0 Camshaft position Sensor (CAM)

10.1 Located the Camshaft Position Sensor on a vehicle. This may be near the camshaft or it may be in the distributor.

10.2 Locate the wire that carries the signal to the ECU. Back probey The wire to massure the signal. Experiment with different settings on your multimeter to see which best indicates that the CMP signal is good. (DC volts, AC volts HZ, or Duty Cycle)

10.3 Record your meeter reading below in the different settings, an discuss which settings show the CMP is good.

DC Volts: 0.11 - 0.38 V
AC Volts: 1.10 - 4.30 V
HZ (hertz); 21.30 - 99 HZ
% Duty Cycle: 079.5 - 0.80%



The good records are frequency Hertz, and Duty Cycle%.
The duty cycle is the best to understood the CAM.

10.4 Draw the circuit diagram for the CAM position sensor on this vehicle:
