First i would like to explain a bit about O2 sensor.
An O2 sensor is a necessary component of cars emission system. All new cars and many old cars have electronic fuel injection system, in which computer regulates the amount of fuel delivered t the engine. The computer communicates with sensor throughout the system to determine how much fuel to delver to the engine and how frequency. The O2 sensor is usually located in the exhaust . One end of the oxygen sensor detected level of unburned combustibles in exhaustible flow and the end connected wiring that relays information to the computer
Testing O2 sensor on the workbench.
We used the high imedance voltmeter and clamp a sensor . Then the negative voltmeter lead to the case,and positive to the otput wire. and heated the sensor with the gas torrch you can see int the next picture. after 30 second the vltmeter reading is about 0.5 v . and after 2 minutes the voltage was dropping. The O2 sensor generate 0.9 or more when heated and show 0.1 v or less within one second of flame removal.
